When I first hit the web and put up a webpage of my very own I had no graphics programs and only a little training under my belt. So. I needed to find graphics. It only took about 30 minutes to discover, honestly, that there are a -lot- of truly *awful* graphics out there. Dissatisfied I prowled the web, certain there had to be something better out there somewhere. My yearn for nice images was quickly sated once I began to find the true graphic treasures on the web, starting first with Moyra's Web Jewels. I found her site back when all she had was a short index page of six matched web sets. Sets that were better than any clipart collection I'd seen. Since then she's gone on to create hoards of gorgeous webpage sets, free for a link.
Later, as I got a job in the computer industry and began doing graphics of my own I real quicklike discovered two things: you need good graphics programs to make good graphics and you need good tutorials to learn how to use those programs unless you want to pay out the ear for schooling. The first two sections of this page is devoted to free graphics on the web: matched sets, bars, bullets, animated GIFs and clipart for download and use on your own page. The second section is a showcase for graphics programs and the gurus who've written online tutorials to help you make your own graphics - tried out by yours truly.
