December 3

So it's winter now, (not technically, but that doesn't matter) and time for my list of what I got done over the fall.

I read a lot of Le Morte D'Arthur. and finally finished Macbeth. I applied to George Mason. I got my nerve up to cut my hair. I went to Princeton Model Congress and liked it. I made myself a suit, the first major tailoring I've ever done. (Mama did the buttonholes, because I'm bad at buttonholes, but that was the only part.) I finally saw Love and Death, which it turns out is not a depressing Russian film at all but a Woody Allen movie set in Russia. I finally went to Homecoming, and it was fun. I had nothing below a B in any classes for the first time in many years. I made an A in both math and science courses for possibly the first time ever. I made a cool asymetrical planter in art class. I learned the instrumental case in Russian. I started helping a Bosnian girl with her homework. I made a perfect score on the SAT verbal section, but more importantly, I took the SAT for the last time ever.

Really, I'm proudest of the suit. It's a nice suit. It makes my eyes look very grey.

At the Moment...
Weather: cold, but I don't mind! I finallly have a winter coat, and I'm not going to lose this one! It's brown courderoy, and I like it. Hey, cour de roy. Cour de roi. The king's heart. I wonder why it's called that.
Feeling: accomplished. I filed all the secondary school report forms for the colleges I'm applying to this morning, and it took nearly two hours. That's because I'm applying to EIGHT colleges. Am I crazy or what?
Wearing: my blue sweater. I like it. I got it for nine dollars and it's nice blue lambswool. I wear it all the time.
Word for today: beginning
Reading: Shakespeare's sonnets for Brit Lit. We have to memorize one, which I've already done, and write one. I'm not so keen on the writing bit.
Goal: to finish my application to Swarthmore this week, and hopefully Bryn Mawr too.
Highlight of my day: making bread pudding
