April 22

Christine spent the night last night, and it was the first really fun sleepover we've had in a long time. I had been fooling around with my Magic cards the day before and so we played a few games. Neither of us had played in almost two years. She brought Faust and we listened to the whole thing. Marguerite's a real dip.

I got my bookshelf a bit more organized than it was. I've got a plant and a bowl of marbles and a vase of flowers and a picture and things. I like it.

I've got my first bug bite of the year.

At the Moment...
Weather: warm and still
Feeling: lazy
Song in my head:
Reading: White as Snow
Listening to: The Lover's Waltz. It's such a good albulm.

Highlight of my day: watching Sleeping Beauty with Christine this morning. It's essentially a kid's movie, but it's still really cool. The three fairies are just terrific. I'm so much like Fauna. Technically she should be flora because her clothes are green and she's definitely a plant person, but it wouldn't work to have Flora being fauna. Rose is an interesting character in that the heroines weren't yet expected to be feminist or anything, so the writers just wrote her as they thought would best suit the story. I like the more modern Disney heroines for being a bit more intellectual and active in their fates (Jasmine, Belle, Nala, etc.) but Rose is probably my favorite character. She's sixteen and she acts and speaks as I suppose an average sixteen-year-old would. "But when will I see you again?" "Oh, never, never!" "Never?" "Well...maybe someday." "When? Tomorrow?" "Oh no! This evening!" But she's no fun once she becomes a princess. She doesn't even get any lines for the second half of the movie.
