Saturday is my sister's birthday. I'm making her a cheesecake but I don't know what I'm getting her.

I think I'm going to spend this weekend doing gardening sorts of things. Mom has promised me a plot to plant and I need to get that started. I want poppies and roses (but what color?) and bluebells and violets and Irish moss and a bunch of other things. I don't want to plant anything that my mother plants because the reason I wanted this space was to plant all the things I like but she doesn't or else just doesn't plant. Roses. White ones show more when they wither, but red roses aren't really me. Maybe pink? I think I'll go with red. Also it's the peak of strawberry season so I want to go to one of those pick-your-own farms and get a lot and make jam. I love strawberry jam but I don't eat it much so it's always gone by the time I get to it.

I like Anita from 101 Dalmations. She's something of a me character. The original actually a good movie because it's set in England, not America like the later versions are. It's such an English story and it really needs to be set there, which is part of why the first version is by far the best.

This Persephone thing is really coming together. I've lost hope of illustrating it for at least a few years because my drawing and painting just isn't that good. But I still want to write the text and at least do sketches to give you the idea of what the illustrations should be. And I want to make a list of all the good Persephone sites and poems and artwork, because there's a lot of really good stuff out there and there isn't anything connecting it.

I actually put soap on my toothbrush the other day. I'd started to do that many times but never actually done it. Fortunately I realized what I had done as soon as I did it.

At the Moment...
Weather: cool enough for long sleeves and a bit grey, but I don't mind
Feeling: stressed
Song in my head: Eleanor Rigby
Word for today: fondue
Listening to: Revolver
Picture for today: A painting of Lesbia, complete with sparrows. I haven't read it but there's some Latin poem all the pre-AP students have to translate and it's all about Lesbia and her sparrow. They swear up and down it's really perverted, but then again most of the Latin students I know are too, so I couldn't really tell you. Anyway, this is a Pre-Raphaelite painting I really love. She's not wearing much, though, to warn you.
Highlight of my day: The SCA meeting. This consisted of the five minutes after I got there and before the secretary realized that the co-presidents weren't going to show up and that we didn't have an agenda anyway. I got to listen to Andrew bash Republicans, which made the whole thing worthwhile.
