Varlin Zedoris Gaidin and Master of Arms Varlin Zedoris lived in a town near Chachin, a little ways away from the Blight, yet close enough that people were nervous. His father was a merchant guard who taught him about fighting and surviving. His mother helped out at the village Inn. When he was 11 years old, Varlin's town was attacked by Shadowspawn. His dad bravely defended the town with other merchant guards, but lost the battle and his life trying. His mom told him to stay in his room on the fourth floor of the Inn. She, however, got hit with Myrdraal's blade when she was trying to take some wounded back to the inn, and died 2 hours later. Meanwhile back in Chachin, there were a small group of visiting Gaidin and Aes Sedai, who were there to check up on the blightborder county. While there they got message of the attack on Varlin's little town and went to help out, accompanied by some soldiers from Chachin. They got there in time to save some of the people, including Varlin, who was in the Inn which was being attacked. A Gaidin named Rikar Shodris recused Varlin from the Inn and brought him to the tower. Since he was now an orphan, Rikar's Aes Sedai, Bethaine, took pity on him. He became a Siswai at a very early age, and became the Master of Arms of the Tower at the age of 24. Added to his training at the Tower, Rikar helped him achieve the title of Blade Master. His only possession is a heron-marked blade that his father got from a trade with the merchant he was guarding, though he never wielded it till he was a Gaidin, he always kept it with him, as a remembrance. Since Valin was not in Kandor for much of his life he doesn't celebrate most Kandori triditions. Standing at a height of 6'1", Varlin has royal blue eyes and golden blond hair. He weighs 195 pounds but is not fat in any way, considering his height and the fact that he is very muscled. Back to Gaidin
