TEASER

Scene: Habour [Ext.], Night
Everyone is standing around ANGEL, who is greedily drinking the blood out of CORDELIA'S wrist. The group stands in horror, until FRED finally breaks the silence.

FRED
Please! Stop Cordelia!

ISABEL just stares at FRED.

ISABEL
Why? She is saving him, isn't she?

FRED
You don't understand! If he keeps drinking
from her, she'll die!

ISABEL
But, if she does not die, then he shall.

FRED
You're right! Shoot! Why is there always this
complex death/death ultimatium?
(CONT'D)
Please! Do something to stop Cordelia from
dying! And Angel, too!

ISABEL
Very well. It is done.

ISABEL waves her hands in a circle. CORDELIA moans, and she slumps onto the ground. CORDELIA is panting heavily. She is alive. ANGEL looks at her, his face returning to it's normal color. He is also panting heavily. FRED runs to CORDELIA.

FRED
(worried)
Cordelia, are you alright?

ANGEL looks up at CONNOR.

ANGEL
Son.

CONNOR slowly backs away.

CONNOR
Angelus.

All attention is on CONNOR and ANGEL, until a gun is cocked. An ambulance is heard in the distance.

WESLEY
Time for little Isabel to come along with me.

ISABEL
No.

WESLEY
Get in my car, now. You have to come with me.

GUNN points a crossbow at WESLEY.

GUNN
Wes. Put the gun down, or there is going to be
some heavy Street Fighting going on, and I
don't want to have to Chun-Li your ass.

WESLEY puts the gun away.

GUNN (CONT'D)
That's a good brit. Now, which side are you on?

WESLEY
I've told you once, and I'll tell you once more. I've
made my decision. And the chances of me changing
are a lot slimmer than Fred.

FRED grimaces.

FRED
(obviously hurt)
Wesley...we could use your help. Please?

WESLEY
I don't think so.
(to Gunn)
You've got something that belongs to Wolfram
and Hart. And they'll be coming to get it.

WESLEY gets into his car, and drives off.

FRED
Cordelia, are you alright?

CORDELIA
Hey, no biggie! I'm a valley girl turned princess
of Pylea turned half demon turned oracle. I don't
think letting the man I love suck my blood is that
big of a deal.

FRED
Wow, that has to be so romantic! The man of
your dreams...

GUNN
Girl, don't get any ideas. There will be no blood
sucking on my part.

The paramedics arrive and help CORDELIA onto a stretcher. CONNOR is looking at ANGEL, while the ISABEL is holding onto his leg.

CONNOR
(whispering)
Angel...

ANGEL
(whispering)
Cordy...

Opening Credits.

ACT ONE.

Scene: Hospital Entrance [Int.], Dawn
CORDELIA is wheeled into the hospital from the ambulance by two paramedics. She is very groggy and confused. They take her into a hospital room. ANGEL stumbles out of the ambulance, resisting the help from a female paramedic.

FEMALE MEDIC
Sir, are you alright? You don't look very well.
We could take some blood...

ANGEL
(Interrupting her)
No, no. I'm fine. I'm not the one you should
worry about.

FEMALE MEDIC
Are you sure?

ANGEL
Trust me. I've been through worse.

A truck rolls next to the ambulance. GUNN, FRED, ISABEL, and CONNOR all exit from his truck. ANGEL slowly heads into the hospital.

GUNN
Man, where do you think you're going?

ANGEL
I need to go see Cordelia. She needs me now.

GUNN
No, what you need is some blood. And, what
this Isabel girlie needs is some protection from
those Wolfram and Hart bastards.

FRED
Angel, if you're worried about Cordelia, I'll stay
with her. Right now, I don't think she's in any
danger. You should stay with Isabel until
we know what Wolfram and Hart's next move is.

GUNN
Yea, Wolfram and Hart and they're new lapdog,
Wesley.

FRED
Charles, don't say that. Wesley is still Wesley.

GUNN
No he isn't. He's, well, different now. But that
doesn't matter. Angel, I'll take you to the butcher
and Fred'll stay here with Cordy.

ANGEL
Alright.

ANGEL looks up, as the sun is starting to come up.

GUNN
Well, I can help with that. I'll drive.

CONNOR is the only one who hasn't moved at all. GUNN looks at him.

GUNN (CONT'D)
Connor, you coming?

CONNOR stares at ANGEL for a beat. ANGEL stares back, unblinking. Suddenly, CONNOR runs off, away from GUNN, FRED, ISABEL and ANGEL. ANGEL stares in the direction that CONNOR ran off. ISABEL walks to ANGEL.

ISABEL
You can't blame him.

ANGEL
I know. I should go after him.

ISABEL
It won't help. He is so confused right now. He
doesn't know what to believe, who to trust. Give
him time. When he is ready, he shall come.

ISABEL's words don't help much, as ANGEL just stares into the direction CONNOR ran.

ANGEL
But, he needs me.

ISABEL
He needs to be alone. He's conflicted right now.

ISABEL looks at FRED, then GUNN.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
I sense a lot of that around here.

ANGEL
...alright. I'll wait for Connor.

GUNN
Well, let's just hope that butcher of yours waits
for you. What you need right now is some blood.
Let's go.

ANGEL, GUNN, and ISABEL get in the car.

FRED
Good luck, guys!

GUNN's truck leaves.

FRED (CONT'D)
Be careful.


Scene: Wolfram and Hart, Hallway [Int.], Morning
WESLEY is walking in the hallway, and stops at the elevator. He presses the up button, and the door opens. LILAH is standing there. WESLEY walks in.

WESLEY
Oh, great. It's you. Now my day is finally
complete.

LILAH
Yeah, I know. You just love me. Well, feelings
are mutual buddy, so I guess we can just skip
the part where we act like we can stand each
other?

WESLEY
Please do. The less of your annoying voice I
hear, the better.

LILAH
You lost the Isabel child. I just thought you'd
like to realize that before the senior partners
did some realization for you.

WESLEY gives off a pseudo-confident laugh.

WESLEY
Lilah. I was brought into Wolfram and Hart
because of my extensive knowdelge in the
field of Angel Investigations. Since my first
day, all they've done was ask me questions
about every member of that team. So, I'm
counting this as my first assignment. And, my
first success.

LILAH
And how would that be a success?

WESLEY
Wolfram and Hart can't have Angelus if he's
part of a Sea World exhibit. Now he's out of
the water, and now they can continue their mission.

The elevator dings, and the door opens. WESLEY begins to walk out towards his office, while LILAH stands there, stunned.

LILAH
Wow. You never cease to amaze me with your
talent. Well, at least here.. Your stamina in the
sack could use a little work. Bye, sweetie.

WESLEY continues to walk away from LILAH as the door to the elevator closes. WESLEY continues walking when the elevator rings and the doors open.

WESLEY
(turning around to face elevator)
Lilah, do you want somethi-

WESLEY is pinned down to the ground by Wolfram and Hart guards. LINWOOD slowly walks up to WESLEY.

LINWOOD
Nice work, guys. Take him to the room.


Scene: Hospital Room [Int.], Day
FRED is sitting in a chair, next to CORDELIA's bed. CORDELIA is conscious now. A NURSE is just about to leave the room.

NURSE
Your friend will be fine. It's lucky you got her
here, though. She lost a lot of blood.

FRED
I know. Thank you for your help.

NURSE
Just doing my job. Take good care of your friend.

NURSE exits. FRED looks to CORDELIA.

FRED
How are you feeling?

CORDELIA
I'm fine. A little lightheaded, but nothing too
unsual.

FRED
You had me worried there. I was so terrified! I
thought that Angel might've -

CORDELIA
...killed me?

FRED
Yeah...but, you know, Angel would never do
that! He loves you!

CORDELIA
I know. Angel loves me! It's so...wonderful.

CORDELIA looks down to her wrist. A bandage covers her wrist, and she has a wristband that has her name on it. CORDELIA smiles.

CORDELIA (CONT'D)
He stopped. If he hadn't of stopped, who knows
what would have happened? He loves me so much
that he kept himself from drinking too much, and
I'm alive because of him.

FRED
That's so sweet! I wish Gunn and I had what you
guys had.

CORDELIA laughs.

CORDELIA
Well, you and Gunn can have sex. Angel can suck
the blood out of my wrists.

FRED finds the situation less romantic.

CORDELIA (CONT'D)
Ya see, I think you're the winner in this situation.

FRED
You're right. No sex with the Mouse King would
just be--

CORDELIA
(cutting her off abruptly)
Ok, overshare to the maximum with that one.


Scene: Wolfram and Hart, Interrogation Room [Int.], Day
WESLEY is sitting in a chair, in the middle of a circle. LINWOOD is standing in front of WESLEY, and there are four cloaked men standing in each corner of the room, holding a candle. As WESLEY comes to, he tries to struggle, but can't move.

LINWOOD
Don't bother. You see those men? They're magically
binding you to that chair. Kinda like ropes, except
when we kill you, we won't have to take them off
and clean them and all that hard stuff.

WESLEY remains silent.

LINWOOD (CONT'D)
You see, what I would like to know is how you
tricked those psychic guards. Nobody ever gets
around them.

WESLEY smiles at LINWOOD.

LINWOOD (CONT'D)
Oh, so you think it's funny? Well, I can make it funnier.

LINWOOD pulls a green blade off the table next to him.

LINWOOD (CONT'D)
This won't just kill you, it'll suck up your soul and
send it to the darkest depths of--

WESLEY
(interuptting him)
I did it for Wolfram and Hart.

LINWOOD puts the blade down.

LINWOOD
Care to elaborate?

WESLEY
Without Angel, you guys cannot have Angelus.

LINWOOD
Yes, but where is that little oracle child?

WESLEY
Well, you don't have Isabel. I don't think that
is going to be much of a problem. Angel is
weakened, and so is Cordelia. You should
have no problem retrieving Isabel from the
remainder of the group.

LINWOOD contemplates the situation for a second.

LINWOOD
You know, I think you're right.

LINWOOD gestures to the cloaked men in the corner.

LINWOOD (CONT'D)
You're free to leave now.

WESLEY gets up and walks out of the door. The cloaked man sitting closest to the door walks up to LINWOOD and takes off her cloak. It is LILAH.

LILAH
That's what he told me.

LINWOOD
Well then. I guess we're going to have to get
Isabel back by ourselves.


Scene: Wolfram and Hart, Wesley's Office [Int.], Day
WESLEY is sitting in his office, looking at his papers. There is a knock at his door.

WESLEY
Don't come in.

The door opens and GAVIN comes in.

GAVIN
Hello, Wesley.

WESLEY is still looking at his papers, not having much regard for GAVIN, who is standing.

WESLEY
Oh. I thought that you were that bitch.

WESLEY looks at GAVIN.

WESLEY (CONT'D)
Not that you're much better.

GAVIN
Do you mean Lilah? I'm here to talk to you
about her.

WESLEY
Really? Well, talking to her is bad enough. I
don't want to waste my time talking about her.

GAVIN sits down.

WESLEY (CONT'D)
(sarcastically)
Please. Pull up a chair.

GAVIN
Lilah will do anything in her power to keep you
off the Angel team.

WESLEY
What is your point?

GAVIN
We both hate her, and if you are placed on the
Angel team, she will be terminated.

WESLEY perks up.

WESLEY
Terminated...as in..

GAVIN
Exactly.

WESLEY
Well, that would be excellent. Now, if I hadn't have
lost that damn Isabel to Angel.

GAVIN
Well, that was just a small misstep. But, you did
get Angel out of the water. And, that has to count
for something. Besides, Lilah and Linwood are off
right now recovering her.

WESLEY
Really?

GAVIN
(smiling)
I'd never lie to you.

WESLEY
I find that one hard to believe. Why are you telling
me all of this?

GAVIN
Because that bitch has been a thorn in my side
since I replaced Lyndsay, and the best way to
get rid of her is through you.

WESLEY
Is that so?

GAVIN
Yes. Now, Wesley. I want to ask you...do you
want to help me get rid of Lilah, once and for all?

Scene: Hospital Room [Int.], Evening
CORDELIA and FRED are in the hospital room. CORDELIA looks as if she has improved quite a bit since she was first in there.

FRED
I'm so worried about Wesley.

CORDELIA
I know what you mean. But, hopefully he'll realize...

FRED
Charles!

CORDELIA
Ooo-k. Not what I was going for.

FRED
I mean, Charles is probably having it the worst.
He seems so torn between liking and not liking
Wesley. He doesn't know what to do.

CORDELIA
Sounds a lot like Connor.

FRED
Yeah. Is anything ever perfect with us?

CORDELIA
Never. I mean, it's just like---

CORDELIA stops talking. Her eyes close.

FRED
Cordy?

CORDELIA opens her eyes.

CORDELIA
Shh. That vision thing.

FRED
Oh.

A series of images flash by, with ISABEL, ANGEL, and GUNN in danger.

CORDELIA
Angel. Where is he?

FRED
He should be at the hotel, with Isabel and Gunn.

CORDELIA
I need a phone.


Scene: Hyperion Hotel, Angel's Room [Int.], Evening
ANGEL is sitting in his room, on the couch. He is staring at the wall. His room has a few items out of place.

ANGEL
Connor....Cordy....

ANGEL stands up, and starts to pick up things and put them away. When he finishes, he stops at his fridge. He opens it and takes out a container of blood. He opens it, when he has a flashback to draining the blood from CORDELIA's wrist. He stares at the blood bag for a minute. Instead of drinking, he throws it at the wall, and the blood drips down it.


ACT TWO.

Scene: Hyperion Hotel, Lobby [Int.], Evening
GUNN and ISABEL are in the lobby. GUNN is taking weapons out of their cases, cabinets, and drawers, while ISABEL is sitting on the sofa in the center of the lobby, silently observing GUNN, who seems to be a little agitated.

ISABEL
You're very loud.

GUNN stops and looks at ISABEL.

GUNN
Are you oracles crazy or something? I'm not
saying a word.

ISABEL
You're not speaking alot, true. But, you're
very loud.

ISABEL gets off the sofa. GUNN is silent.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
He isn't a bad man, you know.

GUNN
Angel?

ISABEL
Wesley. He isn't a bad guy, and you know it. But,
you're just confused about his recent decisions.

GUNN
We used to be tight, man. Er, girl. But now, I don't
know what he's doing.

ISABEL
I know.

GUNN
How do you know all this?

ISABEL gestures him to come closer.

ISABEL
Bend down towards me.

GUNN leans down, so his head is facing hers. She takes her finger and gently taps on his temple.

GUNN
My head?

ISABEL
I can read your thoughts.

GUNN stands up, a tad apprehensive about this.

GUNN
It's an oracle gig, right?

ISABEL
Yes. I can tell what you're thinking. Thats why
I said you were very loud. I can hear all of your
thoughts.

GUNN
Well, stop doing it.

ISABEL
Well, stop being so loud with your thoughts,
Mr. Gunn.

GUNN
Well, I can't help what I'm thinking or how far
I'm thinking it. I just-- think.

ISABEL
He's not a bad man.

GUNN
I know, I know. Wesley and his bad decisions
aren't the--

ISABEL
(cutting him off)
I meant Angel.

GUNN
Oh.

ISABEL
He's a vampire. You hate his kind. Yet, you
don't hate him.

GUNN
He's my boss.

ISABEL
Above all, he is a vampire. What shall you do when
he becomes Angelus? You won't be able to kill
Angelus, will you?

GUNN
(not very confident)
Of course I can.

ISABEL
Gunn, your thoughts seem different than your words.
You might not be able to kill Angelus when the day
comes, and that will be your downfall.

GUNN
You don't know what your talking about. I can do
it, if it comes.

The phone rings, as ANGEL comes down the stairs. GUNN picks up the phone.

GUNN (CONT'D)
Angel Investigations.

FRED
(on the phone)
Oh, thank God you guys are alright!

GUNN
Is something wrong? How's Cordy?

FRED
(on the phone)
Oh, she's fine. Here, she wants to talk to you.

CORDELIA
(on the phone)
Hey. Is everything alright?

GUNN
Everything is fine. Is something wrong?

CORDELIA
(on the phone)
Good. Let me talk to Angel.

GUNN hands ANGEL the phone. GUNN pays close attention to ANGEL while he is on the phone. Neither GUNN nor ANGEL are paying attention to ISABEL, who is sitting on the sofa again.

ANGEL
Hey Cordy.

CORDELIA
(on the phone)
Angel, listen to me. I had a vision. You guys
need to get out of there now, and you need to
get Isabel to the oracles. Now. I think Wolfram
and Hart are after her. I've checked out of the
hospital and we're on our way.

ANGEL
Alright, we'll leave right away.

ANGEL puts the phone down.

GUNN
Something wrong?

ANGEL
Cordy had a vision. We need to get out of here
right away. Grab your weapons and get Isabel.

LILAH is standing in the doorwood with LINWOOD and 3 Wolfram and Hart guards.

LILAH
I think we can take care of that last part.

ANGEL
Lilah.

LINWOOD
Hello, Angel. Good to see you back.

ANGEL
Always a pleasure.

LINWOOD
Now, there are two things you can do. Either you
can give us the oracle...

LILAH
Or that friend of yours will die.

LILAH pulls out a gun.

LILAH (CONT'D)
Gunn, meet gun.

ISABEL
I don't want to go with them.

GUNN
Didja hear that, Lilah? She doesn't like you.
Hard to imagine why.

LILAH
Come on, be a nice little celestial being and
come with me.

LILAH reaches over to grab ISABEL. ISABEL thrusts her hands around in a circle. A great wave of energy knocks everyone down. ISABEL runs out the door.

LILAH (CONT'D)
(on the floor)
Damn!

ANGEL
Gunn, go after her!

GUNN
Gotcha!

GUNN bolts out the door, trying to find ISABEL.

LILAH
(getting up)
And I thought I was going to be able to use
my new gun today.

LINWOOD
(on cell phone)
Calling team. The oracle has escaped. Find her,
now.
(to ANGEL)
I'd love to stay, but I have business to attend to.
However, you're next on our list.

LINWOOD leaves through the door, LILAH stays behind.

LILAH
I'd just thought you might like to know, that
Wesley is now a part of Wolfram and Hart.
He knows a lot about you, and I'm sure that'll
come in handy when we kill you.

LILAH leaves.


Scene: Street [Ext.], Night
ISABEL is running outside of the Hyperion Hotel. She is trying to get away from LILAH. ISABEL stops to catch her breath in front of a dumpster and an alley. Suddenly, the Wolfram and Hart extraction van pulls up about 10 feet away from her.

ISABEL
Oh no!

ISABEL opens her mouth to scream, but someone clamps their hands over her mouth and pulls her into the dumpster. ISABEL looks at the person who saved her, it is CONNOR.

CONNOR
Hey there.

ISABEL
(panting)
Thank you...

CONNOR
No problem. What are you...

CONNOR stops talking as a member from the extraction unit walks by. CONNOR signals ISABEL to be quiet by pressing his finger on his lip. A few moments later, CONNOR starts to talk again, very lightly.

CONNOR (CONT'D)
What happened?

ISABEL
That lawyer girl showed up and tried to take me.
I used my power and ran away.

CONNOR
(concerned)
Oh..Well, um..

ISABEL
(assuring)
Yes. Your father is alright.

CONNOR glances at ISABEL.

CONNOR
Come on. We need to get out of here.

CONNOR slowly helps ISABEL out of the dumpster, and they stealthy glide the other way to a bus stop.

CONNOR (CONT'D)
How did you know what I was going to ask?

ISABEL
I could read your mind now, as well as earlier.
You care for your father, and he knows that. You
should just tell him so.

The bus pulls up to their stop. CONNOR and ISABEL get on the bus, and it leaves. Just as it leaves, GUNN walks around the corner of the street. He sees the bus, but does not see CONNOR or ISABEL.


Scene: Hyperion Hotel, Lobby [Int.], Night
The hotel is empty, with the exception of ANGEL, who is in the lobby, getting weapons and reading books. FRED enters, with CORDELIA slightly trailing behind.

FRED
Hello? Is anyone here?

ANGEL walks towards the lobby entrance.

ANGEL
Yeah, I'm here.

ANGEL stares at CORDELIA.

CORDELIA
(nervous)
Hi, Angel.

ANGEL
(worse off than Cordelia)
Cordy. Hey..umm, Hi.

CORDELIA and ANGEL stand there for a moment. FRED breaks their awkward silence.

FRED
Has anyone seen Charles? And what happened
to Isabel?

ANGEL snaps out of it.

ANGEL
Oh. Sorry. Lilah and Linwood showed up. Isabel
left and Gunn went after her.

CORDELIA
(coming to attention)
Oh! We need to find her right now!

ANGEL
Gunn's looking for her, right now.

CORDELIA
I know, but we need to find her! She has immense
power and we can't let Wolfram and Hart get her
before we do! She's probably scared and alone
out there, she hasn't been seen the real world in
so long!

FRED
Well, if Charles is looking for her, I'm sure he'll
find her.

GUNN walks in with nothing.

GUNN
I got nuthin.

ANGEL
Damn.

GUNN
Well, I don't think Lilah found her, either.

FRED
This isn't good. How are we going to find
Isabel?

GUNN
Cordy. You're an oracle, and so is Isabel. Don't
you two have some oracle mojo locater thing
going on?

CORDELIA
I don't know, Gunn. I'm not sure I've got enough
energy to do anything.

FRED
She's right, Charles. She's very tired.

GUNN
Well, what else is there? Without you, we've
got nothing.

FRED
And, if she's in danger, we'd want to get her as
soon as possible.

ANGEL
Guys, if Cordelia doesn't think she's up to it,
then let her rest a bit.

CORDELIA
Wait.

GUNN and FRED look at CORDELIA. She nods.

CORDELIA (CONT'D)
I'll try.

END OF ACT TWO.


ACT THREE.

Scene: Hyperion Hotel, Angel's Room [Int.], Night
CORDELIA is sitting on ANGEL's bed. Her eyes are closed, and she is sitting in the lotus position, her hands are outstreched facing each other, leaving enough space in between them. She is silenty concentrating her energy. The lights are dimmed.

CORDELIA (V.O.)
Concentrate...concentrate.

CORDELIA (CONT'D) (V.O.)
Alright...

A white ball of light begins to form in between her palms. Starting out slowly, it gradually begins to get bigger. ANGEL walks in the room and turns on the lights. The ball in between CORDELIA's hands fades away and CORDELIA opens her eyes.

CORDELIA (CONT'D)
(gently)
Ahem. Kinda concentrating here.

ANGEL
Sorry.

ANGEL walks near the bed where CORDELIA is sitting. ANGEL still stands.

ANGEL (CONT'D)
Now that you're back, I wanted to-

CORDELIA
Correction. Now that we're both back.

ANGEL smiles.

ANGEL
Yeah. I forgot the disappearing thing was mutual.
But, now that we're back, I wanted to talk to you
about something.

ANGEL sits down on the bed.

CORDELIA
I had something I wanted to say to you.

CORDELIA and ANGEL look each other in the eyes, sharing a passionate glance.

CORDELIA/ANGEL
(in unison)
I'm sorry.

CORDELIA and ANGEL both look away from each other. They both are silent for a moment.

CORDELIA
It's my fault.

ANGEL
What? No it isn't.

CORDELIA
Yes, Angel, it is. If I didn't ascend, then I would've
came to the lookout point and I would've been there
when Connor trapped you in the bottom of the ocean.

ANGEL
There is nothing you could've done. You didn't know.

CORDELIA
And...I really wanted to tell you how I felt.

ANGEL
Same here.

CORDELIA entwines ANGEL's hand with hers.

CORDELIA
I have an idea. Why don't we pick up where we left off.

ANGEL looks at CORDELIA.

ANGEL
Cordy...

ANGEL and CORDELIA embrace tightly, and they share a passionate kiss. While they kiss, they lean against the bed.

CORDELIA
(passionately)
Angel...

CORDELIA stops.

CORDELIA (CONT'D)
We need to find Isabel.

ANGEL
Right.

CORDELIA and ANGEL both sit up.

CORDELIA
Sorry.

ANGEL
No, we've got work to do.

ANGEL stands up, while CORDELIA resumes lotus position. She extends her arms and closes her eyes. A white ball of energy begins to float in her hands. CORDELIA begins to lift off the bed, while ANGEL watches her. The lights in the hotel flicker on and off.

CORDELIA
(whispering)
Isabel...

CORDELIA begins to have a vision. In the vision, ISABEL is bleeding and crying. CORDELIA then recieves a flash of CONNOR, sitting in his room. CORDELIA begins to descend back on the bed, and the white ball of energy disapates. CORDELIA opens her eyes, the lights stop flickering on and off. FRED and GUNN have entered the room.

ANGEL
What did you see?

CORDELIA
Isabel is with Connor. I saw his room.

ANGEL
Connor...

CORDELIA
I'm not sure if they're safe. I saw her...in pain.

ANGEL
She's with Connor. She'll be safe.

FRED
I wouldn't be so sure of that.

ANGEL looks at FRED.

FRED (CONT'D)
Wolfram and Hart are after her.

GUNN
She's right. You should go get 'em.

FRED
We'll stay at the hotel if anybody shows up.

ANGEL
Alright. Cordelia and I will go through the sewers.


Scene: Abandoned Building, Connor's Room [Int.], Night
ISABEL and CONNOR are sitting on the rugged sofa in CONNOR's "room." The lights are barely on and there is a fire going in a trash can. CONNOR and ISABEL are eating twinkies and ho-hos.

ISABEL
Wow, this is really tasty. What is it called?

CONNOR
A twinkie.

ISABEL stares at CONNOR. A moment later, he realizes this. He looks at ISABEL.

CONNOR (CONT'D)
Is something wrong?

ISABEL
I would say so.

CONNOR just looks at ISABEL.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
He is your father.

CONNOR
I know.

ISABEL
That man...Holtz. He was the villain. Not Angel.

CONNOR
I know. I hate Holtz. But I hate demons. Like
vampires.

ISABEL
Things are not always so easy to distinguish. Look
at this human world. In this city alone, there are
many humans which are far more evil than some
demons here. If any, one, single creature in this
city had more humanity, it would be Angel.

CONNOR tries to ignore what she is saying.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
Also, those friends of his. Fred and Gunn? They
were right.

CONNOR finally stops ignoring her.

CONNOR
I know.

ISABEL
Good!

ISABEL eats some more of her twinkie.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
Are twinkies and ho-hos a main part of childhood?

CONNOR
I wouldn't know.

ISABEL
I haven't had the chance to grow up. I've been used
by those lawyers. I just want to go home.

CONNOR
I know the feeling...How will you get home?

ISABEL
I don't know. But I think that Cordelia could probably
help me. Should we look for her?

CONNOR
No. We should stay here. We'll be safe here.

ISABEL
Ok. I'm cold...and tired.

CONNOR gets up and grabs a blanket. ISABEL curls up close to CONNOR, and he covers them with a blanket. ISABEL gently rests next to CONNOR, with a twinkie in her hand.


Scene: Wolfram and Hart, Wesley's Office [Int.], Night
WESLEY is sitting in his office, typing up a report and the day's events. LILAH walks in.

WESLEY
Do you knock?

LILAH
No.

LILAH sits in the chair opposite WESLEY.

LILAH (CONT'D)
The psychics are working on finding that
oracle kid.

WESLEY
That's nice. Now, can you leave?

LILAH
Why didn't you tell me what you were planning?

WESLEY
Lilah. Need I tell you that there are many secrets
which you've kept from me since I started here?

LILAH
No, not really.

LILAH stands up.

LILAH (CONT'D)
Well, you do know how I don't like to burn any
bridges. I just hope that this little fiasco doesn't
put a strain on our non working relationship.

LILAH leans over to WESLEY. Her lips are about an inch away from his. She stares at him seductively.

LILAH (CONT'D)
(Seductively)
Oh, and Wesley....

LILAH moves over to WESLEY's ear. LILAH whispers into it.

LILAH (CONT'D)
If you try to take away my job...I'll take you down.
All the way down.

LILAH licks WESLEY's ear. Her cell phone rings. LILAH moves away from WESLEY's ear and answers the phone.

LILAH (CONT'D)
(looking at Wesley)
Hello. Oh, really? Alright then.

LILAH puts her cell phone away.

WESLEY
What was that about?

LILAH
The extraction team knows where the girl is
heading off to. It looks like I've got this one in
the bag, Wes.

LILAH laughs and walks out.

WESLEY
(muttering)
Bitch.

WESLEY picks up the phone, and dials a number. A few rings later, a girl picks up the phone.

FRED
(on the phone)
Angel Investigations.

WESLEY remains silent.

FRED (CONT'D)
(on the phone)
Hello?

WESLEY hangs up.

 

Scene: Sewers [Int.], Night
ANGEL and CORDELIA are walking through the sewers.

ANGEL
It wasn't all that bad. I had a lot of time for thinking.

CORDELIA
You must've felt right at home.

ANGEL
What's that supposed to mean?

CORDELIA
You were probably in full brood mode. Like usual.
Well, without the fishes.

ANGEL
Well, how was your summer?

CORDELIA
It was odd getting used to the oracle thing. It's
funny, I still feel kinda out of place.

ANGEL
They chose you to be an oracle.

CORDELIA
Chosen to be their fill in girl.

ANGEL
What?

CORDELIA
Isabel came to earth to prevent an apocalypse.
She got stuck down here by some dimensional
force.

ANGEL
Wolfram and Hart?

CORDELIA
Most likely. Well, when she was gone, they
needed to replace the gap that she left. Her
absence left the oracles weakened. They needed
a replacement. So, I was chosen for gap filling
duties.

ANGEL gently clasps CORDELIA's hand.

ANGEL
They chose you because they knew you would
make a good oracle.

CORDELIA
I guess you're right. I mean, my summer did beat
yours. That has to count for something.

ANGEL
What are you going to do when you find Isabel?
How will you get her back to where she belongs?

CORDELIA
I'm focusing on finding Isabel. I'll worry about that
small little detail after we find her.

ANGEL
Good idea.

ANGEL and CORDELIA walk up the ladder and out of the sewers.

ACT FOUR.

Scene: Abandoned Building, Connor's Room [Int.], Night
CONNOR is sitting on the sofa, with ISABEL leaning against him. They're both awake. The wrappers from their twinkies and snack foods are on the floor. The fire in the trash can is starting to die down. It's darker than it was earlier. ISABEL is talking about her experiences as an oracle.

ISABEL
At least, that is what I remember. I couldn't stand
being in that white room.

CONNOR
I don't remember much from my childhood. Except
that I was taken by Holtz.

CONNOR hears footsteps at the door.

CONNOR (CONT'D)
(whispering)
Quick! Hide!

ISABEL hides under the sofa. CONNOR grabs a blade and hides behind the door. ANGEL opens the door.

ANGEL
Is anyone-

CONNOR slams the door, locking CORDELIA out. CONNOR lunges at ANGEL, but ANGEL spins CONNOR around and presses the blade against his neck.

CONNOR
Bastard! You can't have her!

ANGEL realizes that CONNOR is his attacker. ANGEL backs away. CORDELIA opens the door and rushes in.

CORDELIA
Connor.

CONNOR
Cordelia?

ANGEL
Connor. Sorry about that.

CONNOR
Angel? What are you two doing here?

CORDELIA
We're here for Isabel.

CONNOR
(slightly disappointed)
Oh.

ANGEL can sense CONNOR's disappointment.

ANGEL
We're here for you, too, son. Thank you for
saving Isabel.

CONNOR
I was helping the girl.

ISABEL crawls out from under the sofa.

CORDELIA
(noticing)
Isabel!

ISABEL
Hi.

ISABEL walks over to CONNOR.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
You were helping all of us. Thank you.

ISABEL hugs CONNOR, who has a hard time accepting this affection. He appears uneasy.

Suddenly, a round object is thrown through the window. A bright light escapes throughout the object.

LILAH
How touching.


Scene: Hyperion Hotel, Lobby [Int.], Night
FRED and GUNN are alone in the lobby. FRED is looking up things on her computer. GUNN is sitting down, drinking coffee.

GUNN
(restless)
Should I clean the windows?

FRED
Honey, I don't think the windows need to be
cleaned again...for the tenth time.

GUNN
Sorry. I'm just a little bored.

GUNN just sits there.

GUNN (CONT'D)
Actually, a lot bored.

FRED
I wish we could help more.

GUNN
I think we're helping enough.

FRED
By doing what? Sipping coffee and researching
things on the computer? I can't even find anything
good here. And Google.com was supposed to be
the ultimate in search engines.

GUNN
We're doing what Angel asked of us. I think that's
enough. If something happens, we'll find out.

FRED
Yeah, just like that time Cordelia became an
oracle and Angel disappeared into the bottom of
the ocean. Really in the loop of things.

FRED looks at GUNN.

FRED (CONT'D)
I'm sorry. I'm just so stressed out right now. So
much has been going on, and I feel like there is
so much more we can do besides sit down and
wait for the phone to ring.

GUNN
It's alright.

GUNN takes another sip of coffee. FRED continues to type on the computer.

GUNN (CONT'D)
Well, I know something we can do.

FRED
What?

GUNN stands up and walks over to FRED. He leans into her ear and whispers something. FRED giggles.

GUNN
You can even call me the 'mouse king' again.

FRED puts her glasses down on the table.

FRED
(excited)
Ok!

FRED and GUNN start to walk up the stairs.

FRED (CONT'D)
Wait!

GUNN
What?

FRED
What if someone calls?

GUNN
We'll hear the phone if it rings.

FRED
Are you sure? I mean, we've gotten really
loud sometimes.

GUNN laughs.

GUNN
We'll just leave the door wide open.

FRED leans over and kisses GUNN. They walk up the stairs.


Scene: Abandoned Building, Connor's Room [Int.] Night
LILAH is standing inside the room, with four men standing beside her.

LILAH
I almost hate to break this soft scene, but little
oracle girl gets to make her stage left exit now.

ISABEL opens up her hands. Nothing happens.

LILAH (CONT'D)
It's called a binding spell. Neither you nor your
other super friend can use any of your oracle mojo.
So, come with us.

CONNOR
She isn't going anywhere.

ANGEL
(to Connor)
Ready?

CONNOR glances over at ANGEL.

CONNOR
Yes.

CONNOR and ANGEL rush the four guards. ANGEL punches one guard, and then knees him in the stomach. CONNOR roundhouse kicks another guard. They are both sent flying off the railing outside of the door.

LILAH
I'll just take you...

LILAH reaches over to ISABEL, who grabs the round orb in the room and smashes it. CORDELIA then floats up in the air, emitting a white light. The four guards are frozen in place.

CONNOR
I don't think so.

CONNOR punches LILAH.

ISABEL floats into the air with CORDELIA, and the group disappears out of the room. The guards are no longer frozen.

LILAH
Damn it!

FADE TO BLACK


Scene: Abandoned Building, Connor's Room [Int.] Night
CORDELIA, ANGEL, CONNOR, and ISABEL are floating around in a space of nothingness.

ANGEL
Where are we?

CORDELIA and ISABEL are holding hands, floating around, enveloped in white light.

ISABEL
In the same room.

CONNOR
What are you talking about?

ISABEL
Look down.

CONNOR looks down, and he can faintly see LILAH leaving the room, with her four guards.

CONNOR
What's going on?

CORDELIA
We needed to get her to leave. She thinks we've
gone, so she left.

ISABEL
We're safe now.

CONNOR and ANGEL are enveloped in the same white light.

CORDELIA
Close your eyes....

A moment later, everyone is standing in the room. Feet firmly planted.

ISABEL
She's gone.

ANGEL
Yes, but how will you get back?

SKIP (V.O.)
I think I can help with that.

CONNOR and ANGEL look around. A black hole opens in the middle of the room. SKIP walks out.

CORDELIA
Skip!

SKIP
Hey. Good to see you again. How's that oracle
thing working for ya?

CORDELIA
It's going good, I think. What are you doing here?

SKIP
I'm here to take this cute 'lil oracle girl back to
where she belongs.

ISABEL runs to SKIP, and hugs him.

SKIP (CONT'D)
Now, now there, girlie. Don't need to get overly
sentimental...oh, who am I kidding, I love this
chick flick stuff.

SKIP hugs ISABEL back.

SKIP (CONT'D)
Well, it's time for you to return. Are you ready?

ISABEL
Almost.

ISABEL turns to CORDELIA.

ISABEL (CONT'D)
Are you coming with us?

CORDELIA looks at ANGEL.

CORDELIA
No. I'm fine where I am.

ISABEL
Ok. Connor...thank you for the twinkies.

CONNOR
(half smiling)
Anytime.

A black hole begins to open up in the center of the room.

ISABEL
Angel...never, ever give up. Things may get worse
for you before they get better, but there is always
tommorrow.

ANGEL
Thank you.

ISABEL
One day, your humanity will be restored, and
you will see the light of day.

ANGEL
I'll remember that.

ISABEL
Goodbye, everyone.

SKIP
See ya later, everyone.

SKIP and ISABEL enter the black hole. When it closes, a bright flash of light shines throughout the room. When the light is gone, CORDELIA looks at ANGEL.

CORDELIA
She's home. We're home.

ANGEL notices CONNOR is missing.

ANGEL
Where's Connor?


Scene: Holtz's Grave [Ext.], Night
CONNOR is walking towards Holtz's makeshift grave.

CORDELIA (V.O.)
Connor is making his way home. Just give hime
some time, Angel.

CONNOR crouches near Holtz's grave. A single tear streams down CONNOR's face.

CONNOR
I believed in you. I trusted you. I loved you.

CORDELIA (V.O.)
He's figuring out some things for himself.

CONNOR
But no more. I don't love you. I hate you.

CONNOR spits on Holtz's grave.

CONNOR (CONT'D)
I hope you rot in hell.

CORDELIA (V.O.)
He'll come home when he's ready.

CONNOR stands up and walks away from the grave.
