CW#3 Review

Back to Site List | Site Review | Game List | Apps List | Manuals List | THE SITE!!!

CW#3 is very appealling visually. The title image is a James Bond style shadow with the text nicely laid out on top with a neat lighting effect. Underneath that is the news, new games, general info and ring buttons. There is a banner at the top and bottom of the main frame. Navigation is done through the frames on the left which allows you to go through the games alphabetically, by publisher, and category. Alphabetically, the list is very long and it's a lot to scroll through. The games are PC and Amiga on seperate pages but with the same theme. There are cool graphics throughout the page and the new games are listed with a miniature screenshot and name. The other sections you can browse through from the small bottom frame.

This relatively new site actually has a staggering amount of games - over 350 PC and over 80 Amiga. The games vary in rarity from common to exclusive, but most are high in quality. Each game has several screenshots, a review, and the generic fact sheet. Screenshots range from about 2 to 10 and are all of high quality. The reviews are a paragraph in length or longer. There are also "additional" files for nearly every game. These include (over 100) manuals, box covers, cheats and more. The staggering thing is that all of this content was put up in less than half a year. The apps are simply listed under utilities.

There are also a bunch of extras on this site. The news archive dates back to when the site began and includes every single update. There is a quick download page for those who already know what games they are looking for and want to skip reviews and such. It has a message board which is used mostly for requests but also for some tech support. There is also a guestbook, with over 90 entries! There's a nice about page which tells about the webmaster and his previous websites ;) Then there's a link section.

This is simply one of the top sites of the abandonware scene. It has grown to over 450 games in all and started in on March 27, 2000. It is the fastest growing site in abandonware and the webmaster has a true dedication to abandonware. If you remember gangsters.org, this is the guy who created that search. In his care it was updated and the links worked. This site was chosen to be hosted on Underdogs' server. Just go see for yourself, it's one helluva trip ;)
