Abandonware, Rom & Online Games Review

Back to Site List | Site Review | Game List | Apps List | THE SITE!!!

The site looks okay if a bit cluttered. Having the altavista box, adforce banner, and email login just shoves the real contents downwards. Then there's another search box and an option to change the background color, and finally you get to some real content, which is the introduction and news. There are a very large number of sections which are spread out quite a bit down the page so you really have to get scrolling to browse through this site. Graphics are not, besides buttons from other sites. Overall the site has a fairly average design that neither blows you away nor kills your eyes.

The games on this site consist of PC, gameboy, sega master system / game gear, and atari 2600 abandonware. The PC games are split up by genre and each game has a one-liner description with some download sizes. This is disappointing along with the low amount of games on the site but will surely improve over time. The non-PC Games can be found in the roms section. The Gameboy roms are just listed not even in alphabetical order and with no description whatsoever. The SMS/GG roms are also listed in the same way as the gameboy roms. Then there are the atari roms which just give download links to packages of roms based on letters of the alphabet. That way you don't even know what roms you are getting. This is all quite sad...

There are a whole bunch of extra sections. First there is this free web hosting he offers. Well he offers this for free through excelland so if excelland catches him hosting abandonware sites then his account will probably be shut down. I haven't looked at his free web-based e-mail but he offers it. The online games are just a bunch of links to various sites hosting them. The search engines page consists of a bunch of search engines. Also for webmasters there are sections for javascripts, search engine submission, and an HTML tutorial. There's a mailing list and chat that I believe might be useful. On the other hand the greeting cards and weather forecasts have nothing to do with abandonware.

Overall this is a nice site with portals into various parts of the internet including search engines, online games, and fortunately abandonware. The site isn't amazing for an abandonware site and gets kinda off-topic. Overall though, it's a pretty good site so if you want a little more to go along with a simple abandonware site then you should definitely check this one out.
