Character description
'Her face was a perfect oval with great benign gray eyes, her skin like the finest Chinese white enamel.  She had red lips, too perfect even for a painter to make by choice, and her long ashen blond hair was gray like her eyes in the light of the fire, sweeping down her back in a pampered swaying mass.'
(Vittorio the Vampire)
I found an interesting web site which explains the meaning behind names.  I was shocked to discover they have most of the vampire's names there!  It may not be an accurate meaning but why not look anyway, if only for fun.
Click here for the meaning of the name
Ursula.

Here is the meaning from the Virgin book of baby names by Emily Wood.  This is likely to be accurate and more relevant.
~ Ursula ~
From the Latin meaning 'she-bear'.  It was borne by a fourth century saint said to have been martyred in Cologne.
My opinion of Ursula
Ursula is a sweet and likeable character, who become immortal in a horrific way.  The scene in which she plays with the children is particularly touching.  However as with Vittorio I find it strange that she has never met any of the other coven.  I do wish Anne would write a story where they meet up, it would be most fascinating.  An interesting thing to note is - Santino is also 700 years old and Italian.  Yet they have never met each other.  Hmm.

Amber has an excellent site with all the information you need to know about Vittorio, Ursula  and the Renaissance Florence which they lived in.
