Character desciption
'The woman's vigor astonished him.  It gave her an air of infinite flexibility and overwhelming menace.  Was she the true immortal? - the one who had never slept, never gone silent, never been released by madness?  One who had walked with a rational mind and measured steps through all the millennia since she had been born?'

She let him know, for what it was worth, that this was exactly what she was.
He could see her immeasurable strength as if it were incandescent light; yet he could sense an immediate informality, the immediate receptivity of a clever mind.'
'Maharet crying, that she remembered.  Maharet weeping with the soft feminine sound of a young girl.  Maharet had never appeared so alluring; her face had been softened, yet luminous.'

'Here was Maharet's long coppery red hair, curling, thick, and the same tall birdlike frame, the same clever and curious green eyes, sweeping the scene.'
(The Queen of the Damned)
Here are some interesting pictures of Maharet from the Innovation graphic novels.  Please click on the thumbnails for a full size version.
I found an interesting web site which explains the meaning behind names.  I was shocked to discover they have most of the vampire's names there!  It may not be an accurate meaning but why not look anyway, if only for fun.

Maharet.
- My opinion of Maharet -
I believe Maharet is a far stronger person on almost every level than Akasha. Look at the things which happened to Maharet and yet she survived and remained conscious longer than anyone else.  Akasha on the other hand did not.  Maharet is a woman with amazing strength of character.
Lena Olin
- Status of Maharet in the film The Queen of the Damned -
In the film Maharet will be played by the Swedish actress Lena Olin.  She's done a lot of work for example "Romeo is Bleeding" with Gary Oldman.  I'm quite happy with this news and I'm sure she will do a good job.  Unfortunately the story of the twins has been completely changed and it appears that Mekare doesn't feature in any great detail.  Confusing maybe but we will see what becomes of this.
Here are some Maharet-esque dolls I found.  They remind me of her anyway.  Yes, I'm that crazy.  The first one is from here.  The animated one is from here.
If you like Maharet vote for her and then visit

The First Brood
Excellent, well made site with pages on the five most ancient vampires.
