I'm not sure what those strange things on his shoulders are.  Hmm.
Character description
'As for the King we saw him now not as a soldier but as a sovereign.  His hair was plaited and he wore his formal kilt and jewels.  His black eyes were full of earnestness as they had always been but it was clear, within a moment, that it was Akasha who ruled this kingdom and always had.  Akasha had the language - the verbal skill.'
(The Queen of the Damned)
Here are some interesting pictures of Enkil with Akasha of course, from the Innovation graphic novel.  Please click on them for a full size version.
I found an interesting web site which explains the meaning behind names.  I was shocked to discover they have most of the vampire's names there!  It may not be an accurate meaning but why not look anyway, if only for fun.

- My opinion of Enkil -
Hmm.  I can't say I like Enkil that much.  To be honest I never really paid him much thought.  He was far too submissive to Akasha and obviously didn't have a very strong personality of his own.  What a shame.  He does not compare in any way to Khayman!

- Status of Enkil in the film The Queen of the Damned -

Enkil will be played by Peter Olsen in the film.  However he will only appear for a short time perhaps only in flashbacks.  I know nothing of this actor and I've been unable to find a picture.
